The British School
of Alicante was founded in 2001 by a parents' cooperative, although the
education is overseen by Kings College, Madrid. Situated 5 minutes from
the centre of Alicante city it occupies a specially designed building
overlooking the Mediterranean.
Class sizes are an average of 25. The nationality breakdown of our
students is approximately 70% Spanish, 30% British and 10% other
nationalities.
The academic year starts in the second week of September, and finishes
in mid-late June, divided into 3 terms. The school day starts at 9.00am
and lessons finish at 4.30pm. There is a wide choice of after school
activities which run from 4.45pm-5.45pm

Newton College is a private non grant maintained British School, founded
in 1991 and is a member of N.A.B.S.S; E.C.I.S. and A.C.A.D.E.. The
School offers a full British Primary Curriculum complemented by the
obligatory subjects of the Spanish Curriculum required by the Spanish
Ministry of Education and the Royal Decree regarding foreign schools in
Spain.
The School is situated between Elche and Alicante in a purpose built
building.

A new school which
opened in 2002 providing Nursery and Primary education with the
Secondary department which opened in September 2003. pupils can be
enrolled into one of four language sections for their education, either
English, Spanish, French or German.
The seven classes of
secondary education are organized in the following way: for the first
three classes, pupils follow a common course, known as the observation
cycle. Most subjects are taught in the mother tongue, although in the
second class all must begin a second foreign language, and in the third
class all begin to study history and geography in their "working
language".

UMH is based in four University Campuses that together
offer a range of 31 degrees, and it develops an integral part in the
education of the students from a university position to the needs and to
the idiosyncrasies of the business environment.
The University Miguel Hernández of Elche does not offer
any accommodation. They have no halls of residences. Sharing a flat with
other foreign or Spanish students is the most common option.
